Little Mutant

My dog he has six toes
Six toes has my dog
And had he not six toes
He would not be my dog

Actually, our new puppy Fez has six claws on each of his hind legs instead of four.

The extra ones are dewclaws that aren’t much use on his hind legs. The usual dewclaws on a dog’s front legs can help them grip and run.

Maybe Fez is a step towards dogs that can climb trees – then they’ll dominate the cats… We’ll never know though because he’ll have his man bits neutralised in a couple of weeks, along with his shots, and we’ll see about getting his extra toes removed too (if it’s worth it).

He’s going to hate us!
