Baby Update at 14 Weeks
Maternity clothes!
Yep, I have bought a pair of maternity jeans to add to my first pair of maternity pants that I got a few weeks ago. I’m feeling proudly pregnant at last, although I’m not obvious. Sure beats holding my gut in (when I wasn’t pregnant).
Over the last month I have gained 1.5 kilos – yikes! I am now the heaviest I have ever been in my life, and I know I’m just going to get heavier. Scary thought, given my shortness.
I’ve still got some winter aches, pains and sniffles, so not feeling the best. I’m just holding out for when the morning sickness finally goes away. Maybe I’ll feel normal again and start enjoying the anticipation of a cute little baby.
Anyway, some stats from the midwife now.
- My nuchal translucency scan has estimated that the risk of a Downs Syndrome baby is less than 1 in 5000. Excellent odds.
- My hCG level is above 70,000 so that’s normal and confirms that I am well and truly pregnant.
- Protein and glucose traces in my urine is negative – woop.
- My blood type is O positive so it’s nice and common.
- I weigh 54.8 kilos. My usual nonpregnant weight is 50kg.
- I am still short. The midwife didn’t say that but unfortunately I’m not going to get bigger upwards as I am outwards.
