Pregnant Fight Club
- First rule of Pregnant Fight Club – you have to be pregnant.
- Second rule of Pregnant Fight Club – no punching the belly.
- Third rule of Pregnant Fight Club – no punching at all.
Actually, no hurting at all. Pregnant Fight Club doesn’t really work does it…?
Let’s just bake cupcakes – I could do with a snack.

Pregnant fat hand in my hand brace
Baby Update at 22 Weeks
Just as I thought everything was going swimmingly, I develop pregnancy-related carpal tunnel syndrome.
It really sucks because my right hand is always tingly, and I can’t do things that require gripping for long – like brushing teeth, or writing, or even opening jars. My right arm aches often too, including the elbow and shoulder. The worst thing is that it’s keeping me awake at night.
My midwife says it’s only going to get worse, and it usually doesn’t occur this early :(
She recommended acupuncture so I tried it yesterday. I had some points put in my wrists as well as ankles to combat any swelling that may be occurring there. It’s a weird sensation and I’ll need a few sessions before I notice any changes – assuming it works.
I was told to reduce my fat, salt and dairy intake as they cause water retention – nooOooOoo! All the good things!
At least this is an excuse not to do dishes :)
I wonder what else is in store during this pregnancy…?

Me at 22 weeks pregnant and now with carpal tunnel syndrome...
A Nice Surprise
The door bell rung this morning and Fez raced down the hallway to see who it was. When I opened the door I was greeted by a courier man. He had a package for me – a box of baby stuff judging by the labelling. I didn’t sign up for any other freebies I wasn’t aware of, did I?
After signing for the package and dragging Fez back inside I found it was a present from my oldest friend Lilie.
It was a Baby Buds package – a bouquet of teeny baby clothes, and a box of pampering goods for mummy baby too. How cool!
I squealed with glee at how lovely it all was, and the thought of my little girl in the pink and lime get up.
Thanks so much Lilie! It really made my day and I can’t wait to use them!

How cute!
Chocolate Chip Cookies
I haven’t posted a food entry for a while. This is probably due to the fact that most of my food entries have been cocktail recipes, and being winter and pregnant I haven’t thought about any of these lately. (Actually, I think about cocktails a lot! Will have to invent some nonalcoholic ones at some stage.)
But what is good for a pregnant woman in winter is some warm chocolate chip cookies.
I dug out this recipe that is based on one I found on the Interwebs a while ago, and tweaked it to my liking.
Ingredients
- 200g softened butter
- 1 1/2 Cups sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 Cups flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 100g (or as much as you can handle) chocolate chips/buttons/chopped
chocolate bars etc. I like to use dark chocolate chopped into chunks.
Method
Preheat oven to 180° Celcius.
In a large bowl cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy then stir in the egg.
Sift in the flour and baking powder and mix with a wooden spoon.

Use a sift or sieve to get rid of lumps in the flour
When it comes together as a dry dough mixture, add the chocolate.

Add chopped chocolate to dough mixture
Use your hands to knead the mixture so it forms a ball of cookie dough.

Use hands to form dough ball
Drop slightly-flattened balls of the cookie dough onto a tray. I do two batches one after the other for even cooking.

Arrange 12 cookies per sheet
Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown on the edges.
Cool a little and voila! Teeth-rotting tummy-fattening wickedness.

Brown on the edges and chewy in the middle
