In addition to two giant bags of hand-me-downs from my brother and the hubby’s sister, we got a bunch of cute teeny tiny clothes at the baby shower last week.

So I thought I’d share some of them with you.

I went shopping with my mum as she wasn’t sure what I wanted. I picked out a few things including these two playsuits. I fell for pink polka dots and cherries :)

A couple of play suits I picked out with my mum

Did I mention that the hubby and his brother share the same birthday but one year apart? And that his brother’s wife and I are both due on the same day? How bizarre! Anyway, the sister-in-law’s mum has been busy knitting for her bubs, and also created an impressive little cardi for our girl.

Hand knited cardi from sister-in-law's mum, and cute cupcake t-shirt from Ms Constantine

I have also been buying some clothes myself – it’s too hard to resist! I got some tiny singlets, and Osh Kosh shorts on sale for $6 for two pairs.

The mums-in-law gave me a super sweet summer dress with matching hat and bloomers. She’s going to be one cute summer babe.

Summer outfits

A friend sent us a package from London, insisting we only open it at the baby shower. I forgot about it until the day after, whoops! The package contained some very cute shoes and a matching head band.

The hubby’s little sister (who also donated a load of her baby’s clothes) got us some Flipper Slippers. Hehe.

Cute feet things sent from London, and Flipper Slippers from the hubby's sister

We have loads more but I had to limit the post for your sakes!

Our baby is still nine weeks away but already she is spoilt for choice. I really can’t wait to dress her :D

I imagine those would cover my boobs on my short frame… But the other skirts, dresses and tops are kawaii desu yo!

Recently I stumbled across the Dolly Dagger website and developed a sudden urgency to go back to the UK. Pity I’m not rich enough to do that. Or even to afford anything in pounds.

So for now I will sigh, dream and hunt down similar things here in New Zealand.

I am continuing my mission to reinvent myself. This last week I have managed to pick up some very cute items, and without breaking the bank!

From top left: Headbands from Equip; Beads from Luminary; Checkered shirts from Jay Jays; Sneakers and flats from Number 1 Shoes

Every time I visit Palmerston North, I attempt to go to the Number 1 Shoes there. For some reason I always seem to pick up something there that I never see in any of the other stores in Wellington.

This weekend was a double-success. I found myself a pair of Chuck-style sneakers and a pair of quilted black and pink flats complete with bows! Too cute! And very comfortable too, which is just as important.

I also picked up a set of black and white headbands (yay polka dots!) during my 4 hour shopping excursion in Palmie. Not as successful as the last spree but then again, shoe shopping is even more of a challenge for me than clothes shopping so maybe it was more successful…

Yesterday Ms Constantine and I went for a walk to the Number 1 Shoes on Lambton Quay. Didn’t find anything new there (didn’t see those flats either). On the way back we stopped at Jay Jays and that’s where we found the two tops, buried among the infamous ’specials’ piles – super!

Today we visited the shops in the Old Bank Arcade. The beads I got are from a dinky accessory shop called Luminary in there. I hadn’t noticed this shop before and decided to pop in while Ms C. visited the powder room. Good for me, because there they were, glaring at me in all its pretty pink glory, begging “Buy me!”. So I did. And there they are. :D

I had an awesome shopping spree with my best bud yesterday.

To help with reinventing ourselves we decided that we could do with some new clothes. I really did need some new staples seeing as my current selection is years old and literally worn out. If I was a serious fashion blogger, I’d be saying “What I am wearing: things that I should’ve chucked out a few years ago.”

At lunch time we left the boys at home to play Mame games on the projector, and whisked ourselves away to Westfield Queensgate.

The weather wasn’t great so I didn’t feel so guilty that we spent five hours inside a mall. And you do get a lot of exercise running around all those shops and trying on things under hot spot lights. Nevermind the icecreams we had during our break – although I did breathe in the sherbert (unfortnately not orange sherr-bert) on the top of mine so the coughing fit would’ve accounted for some calorie loss surely!

Black and white beauties. From top-right: Pin-striped shirt from Temt; Rara skirt from Lippy; Ruffled skirt with belt from Temt; Top from Portmans; Shrug from Valleygirl

The spree went surprsingly well, especially as I am such a slow shopper. Five new items in five hours is pretty damn good for me! And the skirts are something that I normally wouldn’t wear, but as part of the “reinventing” part of the spree, I liked them and will be making myself wear them (weather permitting).

All I need now are some accessories and new shoes – another shopping spree excuse I think :D
